Jay Castille was born and raised in Carencro and is a life-long resident of District 2. He is a graduate of Carencro High School and attended UL of Lafayette. He has three children: Joseph “T-Jay” Castille III, Buddy Castille and Brandi Castille Guidry. Jay has seven grandchildren: Kaynon Castille, Dorian Castille, and KortMicheal Castille, Jaydan Castille, Skylar Castille, Rhett Guidry and Ryen Guidry. Jay is married to Carolyn who has a son named Tyler Emert.
Jay is serving his third term as Lafayette City-Parish Councilman for District 2. In 2009, he was elected vice-chair of the Council and in January 2010, was elected chair. He served as president for the Council Of Governments (COG) from February 2010 to February 2013. During his tenure on the Council, he has also chaired many departmental Liaison Committees. As Finance Chair he presided over budget hearings for LCG’s $600 million budget. Jay was elected by his colleagues on the Council to serve a second term as vice-chair for the 2015 calendar year and for the second term in 2016 was elected Chair of the Council.
Jay served 5 years as City Manager for the City of Carencro. He retired from the Lafayette Fire Department after 20 years of dedicated service to the community for which he received numerous commendations including the rescue of trapped victims and his Hazardous Materials services at the Eunice train derailment. During his career, he served as President and Vice President of the Lafayette Professional Fire Fighters Association where he was awarded the Adam “Butch” Lacombe Distinguished Service Award, their highest honor. Jay also served as the Fourth District Vice President of the Professional Fire Fighters Association of Louisiana where he earned their Distinguished Service Award for dedicated service.
Jay is owner of Jay Castille Construction, Inc., Jay Castille Properties and is also a land developer. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board for Maple Federal Credit Union and is a member of the Acadiana Home Builders Association, Louisiana Home Builders Association, Carencro Business Association and the Upper Lafayette Economic Development Authority.
