Have you recently spotted people toting trash bags while jogging? Or their hands filled with old plastic bottles? You might soon.
Sweden’s latest fitness craze— plogging— is making its way to Lafayette! The term is a mash-up of jogging and the Swedish “plocka upp,” meaning pick up. In this case, litter.
Join us for Lafayette's First ever Plogging Event! Sign-in is at 5:30 PM, take-off is between 5:45–6:00 PM, and you can "plog" at your leisure. Taco Sisters and beverages, and beer (for those of age) will be available starting at 6:30. Pack and Paddle will be open for the duration of the event.
This is a NO WASTE event— meaning, please bring your own reusable water bottles, cups for beer, etc. We are picking up trash so we do not want to create more!
While not mandatory, please RSVP by getting a 'ticket' using Eventbrite, to give us an idea of how many will be attending.
Upper Lafayette Economic Development Foundation connected with commercial real estate company, Elifin Realty, who has sponsored successful Plogging events in Baton Rouge, to help us get a series going here! With great community partners, No Waste Lafayette, Mccomb- Veazey Neighborhood Coterie, Project Front Yard and Upper Lafayette businesses Pack & Paddle, Schilling Distributing Company, and Taco Sisters Freetown— we are sure this will be a fun time and a success!
And special thanks to Project Front Yard for providing us with trash grabbers, gloves and bags!
